This Department has been in consultation with the General Post Office with regard to Cable and Wireless communication in
Chins.

At the suggestion of the Postmaster General I am directed to transmit herswith, to be laid before the Imperial Communications Committee a copy of the letter which wa: addressed to Mr. Illingworth by Lord Curzon on Jamary 17th last, in which the matter is reviewed at some length and the various considera- tions upon which a decision is required are set forth.

but so far replies have only been War Office, and Admiralty;
received from the Post Office and Colonial office.

Since the issues referred to in the letter to the Post Office of Jamary 17th were raised, a further complication bas ensued in the conclusion of a contrast between the Chinese Government and the American Federal Wireless Company for the erection of high-power wireless stations in China, a contract which, as reported by Sir B. Alston, not only raises the
